It's hard to believe it's been six months since I began this apprenticeship of self expression and discovery. Most of the photographs I've shared during this time were monuments and landscapes that I photographed over a year ago. Since launching in December, I have taken on every portrait photography opportunity that spare time would permit. It's been a blast. I can't recall a single shoot that has felt like work, which tells me that I must be on to something really special.
Since December I've photographed weddings, parties, executives, graduations, and my favorite target of opportunity - my sweetheart. The best part about doing this as a passion is that I don't have the pressures of having to bring in revenue to sustain me. This has allowed me to focus on being a good student of the art during and between shoots. For example, I've spent a great deal of time studying light and learning how to apply it more effectively. The result has been a remarkable improvement in the quality of my photos and the stories they tell. While I still have a great deal to learn, it has truly been exciting to see how much I have grown.
What makes all of this truly special for me is the incredible support I've received from my family and friends, not to mention the positive feedback from thousands of people from around the world whom I have never met. There is nothing more personally satisfying than bringing happiness to others through my passion for telling stories through photographs.
My sincere thanks to you all. My commitment is to keep improving and keep the photos coming.
