February Photo of the Month: Grace, A Tribute To My Friend

I named this photo "Grace," and it is my personal favorite. I was 17 when I took this picture of my good friend Sharon. In some ways it was a lucky shot; I knew very little about the technical side of taking a quality picture. But it was clear to me what I wanted to achieve; I wanted to capture her emotions at that very moment in a way that might stir curiosity and wonder for the observer. I remember asking her to recall a time when she waited for someone very special as she looked out that window. I was looking for a picture that would tell a story, and today that's the photographer I aspire to become.

And, in addition to her committed friendship, she has inspired me to embrace my love of capturing images and sharing them as a means of self expression.

Thank you, Sharon Grace. I am pleased to honor you and your image here this month. I am and always will be your friend.
